Pluck overcame an adventuresome trip to kick off the Saturday portion of the 2010 Breeders’ Cup Championships with a one-length victory in the Juvenile Turf. Ridden by Garrett Gomez, Pluck bobbled at the start and then was forced to steady going into the first turn and had to swerve to avoid a fallen rider, episodes that left the colt at the back of the pack. The victory was the 11th in the Championships for Gomez and the fifth for trainer Todd Pletcher.

Pluck needed only two starts to post his initial victory, that coming on July 11, 2010 at Belmont Park. Prior to his Breeders’ Cup victory, Pluck won the Grade 3 Summer Stakes at Woodbine for his initial graded stakes victory.
