The globetrotting Islington left an indelible mark in America when she eked out a victory in the 2003 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf at Santa Anita Park and subsequently was honored with an Eclipse Award as champion turf female. The previous year, she was third in the Filly & Mare Turf at Arlington Park. In the last 11 of her 15 career starts Islington raced exclusively in Grade/Group 1 races throughout Europe, U.S., and Japan. Along the way, she pocketed victories in the Group 1 Yorkshire Oaks in both 2002 and 2003 and was a close fifth in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, a renowned Group 1 race in France. Overall, she won six times and banked $1.5-million. Sir Michael Stoute trained her for the executors of Lord Weinstock.
