Summer Applause has a resume that would get her hired at any top shelf establishment. The four-year-old filly hashad a stellar season in 2013 and 2012, while not quite garnering the headlines of some of her peers. Last year, she won only one of four starts, but that was the G3 Rachel Alexandra at the Fairgrounds. She also just got beat a nose by Believe You Can in the G2 Fairground Oaks just before that rival won the G1 Kentucky Oaks, where Summer Applause ran fourth. She underwent surgery for a chipped knee after the Oaks, and didn’t return to action until January of 2013. Since then, she’s captured the G2 Top Flight Handicap early in the year at Aqueduct, the G2 Allaire Dupont Distaff at Pimlico, the Lady’s Secret at Monmouth, and most recently she ran second in the G1 Spinster at Keeneland.
