LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 31, 2013) – The deadline for the early discount of $100 off the $500 price for a Breeders’ Cup foal nomination is 11:59 p.m. ET Thursday, August 1. This 20% discount applies to all foals nominated electronically or “on-line” to the Breeders’ Cup program for the 2013 foal crop if made on or before this Thursday night’s deadline via www.members.breederscup.com.

Nominators may also call the Breeders’ Cup Nominations department at (859) 514-9423 by 5 p.m. (ET), August 1, and receive the discounted foal fee.

As a further incentive for breeders, any nominated horse that wins a Breeders’ Cup Win and You’re In Challenge race earns an immediate $10,000 award for the foal nominator.

These awards when added to the nominator awards that are paid for horses that finish first, second or third in a Breeders’ Cup World Championships race provide nearly $2 million each year to breeders who nominate their foals as weanlings.

Early participation not only guarantees the $100 discount but also insures the Breeders’ Cup nomination is included on the catalog page for weanlings entered into any November sales.

All foals sired by a fully-nominated Breeders' Cup stallion are eligible for nomination to the Breeders' Cup program in their year of birth. The standard $500 foal nomination, for those choosing not to nominate on-line, will remain in effect, with a deadline of Midnight (ET), October 15. Late foal nominations may be made until Midnight (ET), December 15 of the year of birth by payment of a one-time $1,500 nomination fee.

A Breeders' Cup-nominated foal is eligible to participate and earn full purses and awards in the Breeders' Cup World Championships races and in any other Breeders’ Cup racing program for as long as it races without any further nomination payments due.

Breeders' Cup Limited has been Thoroughbred racing's most significant national and international program for more than thirty years. During this time, Breeders’ Cup has allocated purses and awards in excess of $700 million to owners, foal nominators and stallion nominators through the racing programs of the Breeders' Cup and the Breeders' Cup World Championships, which this year will include $27 million in purses and awards over the two-day event at Santa Anita Park.

The Breeders’ Cup foal nomination program began in 1983 with a standard $500 per foal fee. The standard fee has never been increased since its inception. The late nomination fee of $1,500 per foal by December 15 was introduced in 2004.
