SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (August 7, 2013) – At its meeting today, the Breeders’ Cup Board of Directors voted William S. (Bill) Farish, Jr., of Lane’s End Farm, as Board Chairman. Farish succeeds Tom Ludt, who has served as Chairman the past two years, and will remain a Director.
Farish, who was Breeders’ Cup Chairman from 2006 through April 2011, will serve a two year-term. Antony Beck, of Gainesway Farm, was elected Vice Chairman, and will also serve a two-year-term.
“I am honored with the privilege to serve our nominators and our participating horsemen again as Breeders’ Cup Chairman,” said Farish, of Versailles, Ky. “I look forward to working with our Members and Directors to strengthen our organization and to continue our mission of growth and enhancement of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships as the leading international Thoroughbred racing event year after year.”
“I have enjoyed my term as Chairman overseeing the continued growth and popularity of the Breeders’ Cup program on a worldwide scale,” said Ludt. “It has been an honor to serve our nominators, whose continued funding and support have been invaluable to our organization and our industry.”
