NEW YORK (October 28, 2013) – The Breeders’ Cup, the most prestigious international event in Thoroughbred racing and GEICO, the third-largest private passenger auto insurer in the United States, today announced a marketing partnership for the 2013 Breeders’ Cup World Championships, Nov. 1 and 2 at Santa Anita Park.

GEICO will serve as the title sponsor of the GEICO Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint. The $1 million Turf Sprint, a 6 1/2 furlong race for horses 3 years of age and older, will be run on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 5:05 p.m. ET. As part of the agreement, GEICO will participate in an on-camera winner’s circle presentation and will air a commercial during the live telecast of the $5 million Breeders’ Cup Classic, North America’s richest race, shown in primetime on NBC.

The Breeders’ Cup World Championships consists of 14 races and purses and awards totaling $27 million. The Breeders’ Cup, which will be televised live by the NBC Sports Group, with the $5 million Breeders’ Cup Classic shown live and in primetime on NBC, is an annual gathering of stars from the worlds of Hollywood entertainment, business and sports. It will be held for the next two years at Santa Anita Park, one of America’s most iconic sports venues.
