NEW YORK (October 15, 2014) – The Breeders’ Cup has today announced that acclaimed actress and Tony Award winner Kristin Chenoweth will return for the 31st running of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships at Santa Anita Park on Saturday, November 1 for a special performance of the adopted anthem “The Best is Yet to Come”. Airing live on NBC’s primetime telecast of the Breeders’ Cup at 8:00pm ET, Kristin’s performance will be the closing act at the exciting two-day event.
“We couldn’t be more excited about Kristin’s return to the Breeders’ Cup World Championships,” said Peter Rotondo, vice president of media and entertainment for the Breeders’ Cup. “Her moving performance last year was one of the entertainment highlights and this year promises to be even better with Kristin’s special encore performance in the Winner’s Circle.”
The second consecutive time Kristin has lent her legendary vocals to the Breeders’ Cup, this year her performance takes place just a few weeks before the November 17 release of her new album “Coming Home” on Concord Records. A PBS television special of her live concert will premiere on Nov 28th and be released on CD and DVD.
“Performing at the Breeders’ Cup World Championships is a fantastic experience – the crowd has a great energy, the races are exciting and everyone simply wants to have a good time,” says Kristin Chenoweth. “I was so excited to have the opportunity to come back this year. It’s wonderful to connect with fans outside of the traditional performance venues.”
Kristin’s anticipated performance at the 2014 Breeders’ Cup World Championships will round-out a slew of exciting musical acts taking place throughout the two-day event. Other headliners include legendary rocker Richie Sambora, who will return to do an edgy rendition of the National Anthem, and a special In-Field concert by popular Southern California swing band Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.
