Statement from Breeders’ Cup President and CEO Craig Fravel on Tom Ludt: “On behalf of the Breeders’ Cup Members and our Board of Directors, we congratulate Tom on his new position with The Stronach Group and thank him for his outstanding work as Breeders’ Cup Chairman. Tom's remarkable leadership, accomplishments and his desire to make the Breeders' Cup World Championships the best event in sports will be difficult to replace. We wish him well in his new endeavor and look forward to his continued service to the Breeders’ Cup.”
The 2013 Challenge series will consist of a total of 67 automatic qualifying races into the Breeders' Cup World Championships.
For the first time, travel allowances will be paid to all participants shipping from outside of California for this year’s Breeders’ Cup World Championships.
The Breeders’ Cup board voted today to maintain its race day medication policies for the 2013 Breeders’ Cup World Championships which were in place for the 2012 event.
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (February 8, 2013) - Hall of Fame trainer John Nerud, who campaigned such legends as Dr. Fager, Ta Wee, and Gallant Man, will celebrate his 100th birthday Saturday. Nerud, one of the founders of the Breeders’ Cup, was inducted into the National Museum of Racing’s Hall of Fame in 1972. He is the senior living member of the Hall of Fame.
