The John Deere Award, presented by Breeders’ Cup Limited and NTRA Advantage, emphasizes the contributions of breeders to the Breeders’ Cup program. The industry’s breeders fund the purses for the World Championships through annual nominations of foals and stallions.

LOS ANGELES (November 7, 2012)— Yogi Berra’s “it was déjà vu all over again” was never truer than during the 2012 Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge at Santa Anita on Saturday. Defending champion Patrick McGoey staged another improbable last race comeback to defeat last year's 2nd place finisher Christian Hellmers to win the tournament and $255,341.
