The weather for Nov. 3, the second day of the Breeders' Cup World Championships at Santa Anita Park should be ideal.With more than an hour to first post time of 10:15 a.m. PDT, the temperature in Arcadia, Calif., was 56 degrees with sunny skies. The high temperature was expected to hit about 82 degrees in the afternoon, with no chance of precipitation.The track was fast and the turf course firm as of 9 a.m.Post time for the first Breeders' Cup race, the Juvenile Turf, was scheduled for 11:50 a.m. The 12th and final race, the Classic, was scheduled for 5:35 p.m.
1) The Breeders’ Cup Classic is run at the American classic distance of 1 1/4 miles over the dirt. In 2008 and 2009, the Classic was run over a synthetic surface at Santa Anita.
Besilu Stables' Royal Delta took control after an early scramble for the lead and never looked back en route to a strong victory in the $2 million Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic.
Martin Schwartz's Zagora (FR) took the lead leaving the second turn and held off a tenacious Marketing Mix for a game victory in the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf (gr. IT) at Santa Anita Park Nov. 2.
