$500K Pay Day Digital Mystery Voucher Program Returns for 2012 Breeders' Cup
NEW YORK (September 4, 2012) – Based on its successful launch in 2011, the Breeders’ Cup announced today that it will conduct the $500K Pay Day online mystery voucher program again for the 2012 World Championships. The promotion will offer fans a chance at one $500,000 mystery voucher that can be redeemed at participating simulcast partner sites on Saturday, November 3.
The Breeders’ Cup $500K Pay Day is based on the traditional mystery mutuel voucher concept but utilizes modern technology to offer this program in a digital environment. Tracks, off-track betting facilities and casinos work with Breeders’ Cup to promote the offer to their patrons via email, social media and other marketing channels.
“We’re excited to offer the $500K Pay Day promotion again and work with our simulcast partners to help drive attendance and handle at their facilities on Breeders’ Cup weekend,” said Justin McDonald, Breeders’ Cup Senior Director of Marketing and Digital Media. “Last year we had 17 simulcast sites across the country participate and we hope to build upon that number this year.”
Simulcast partners have until Monday, September 10 to sign up for the promotion and can contact Justin McDonald at email@example.com for more information. The promotion will officially open to fans for registration in mid-October.
To participate, fans are required to register online to receive a digital coupon that they can print out or bring to the track on a Smartphone. The coupon will be scanned at a redemption booth and the fan is awarded a real money voucher worth at least $2. Individual tracks and simulcast sites will dictate their specific voucher denominations (some may be worth $5, $10, $100 or more). There will be one $500,000 voucher available nationally for redemption.

For good reason, much of the attention on the $4 million Longines Breeders’ Cup Turf (G1) will be on the international runners who come to Del Mar for the 12-furlong contest. In the last decade, just three winners have hailed from the United States, with the other seven coming from Europe. Since 2000, that split is 16 Europe, six for America.
