Past performances are easy to read on a surface level, but those wishing to learn more advanced techniques may require help. If using Daily Racing Form (DRF) Past Performances, then why not seek out advice from their own staff and a few other racing celebrities in the know?
NBC Sports Racing analysts, Randy Moss and Jerry Bailey, along with Daily Racing Form’s Mike Watchmaker and Mike Welsch will use the Form’s Past Performances to demonstrate effective techniques in analyzing each race.
Watchmaker has been with the Daily Racing Form for years. He originally started working for Daily Racing Form in 1980 and became their main New York-based writer in 1983. After stints at the Racing Times and the New York Racing Association, he returned to the Daily Racing Form in 1998, where he has remained ever since.
Also from the Daily Racing Form is Welsch, who works the publication’s South Florida beat. He is also known nationally for writing about and analyzing workouts of horses pointing toward the Kentucky Derby (GI) and Breeders’ Cup races.
Moss, who has a long relationship with the Daily Racing Form as an original associate of Andrew Beyer in the making of Beyer Speed Figures and as a creator of Moss Pace Figures, is now a well-known racing analyst on NBC Sports. Prior to his role with NBC, Moss worked for ESPN, which led to his current role alongside successful jockey-turned-racing commentator Jerry Bailey.
Long-time racing fans recognize Bailey as a fixture on racing’s biggest stages, including a record-setting winning streak on Breeders’ Cup Classic-G1 winner Cigar. Bailey’s accomplishments as a jockey run far and wide. At one point he won three straight editions of the Breeders’ Cup Classic (GI), and has captured five editions of the race overall, as well as two Kentucky Derby wins to his credit.
Betting the Breeders’ Cup will be held at the Grand Reserve in Lexington and hosted by the Bluegrass Sports Commission. Tickets are still available, with general admission costing $125 per person, which includes dinner and a cocktail.
