Breeders' Cup Names Harrah’s Resort Southern California an Official Marketing Partner of 2017 World Championships
LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 1, 2017) - The Breeders’ Cup and Harrah’s Resort Southern California today announce a dynamic partnership exclusively crowning the casino resort in Funner, California as the official marketing partner of the acclaimed 2017 Breeders’ Cup World Championships.
The 2017 Breeders’ Cup World Championships, consisting of 13 Grade 1 races and more than $28 million in purses and awards, will be held for the first time at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club near San Diego from November 3 - 4, and will be televised live by the NBC Sports Group.
As part of the agreement, Harrah’s Resort Southern California will receive a full range of onsite marketing and promotional opportunities and be a presenting partner in the digital media space.
The on-site promotional opportunity at Del Mar includes a branded fan and horsemen interactive experience to be located in the Plaza de Mexico on the front side of the racetrack. The Harrah’s Resort Southern California logo will be printed on the back of all pari-mutuel tickets sold over the two days of the World Championships, and will also be displayed on the Jumbotrons video boards and on the live stream of the event.
In the digital part of the agreement, Harrah’s Resort Southern California will be the presenting partner of the Breeders’ Cup signature consumer promotion ‘Racing with the Stars,’ in which fans can win one of four VIP experiences with a celebrity Breeders’ Cup Ambassador in the areas of Entertainment, Sports, Racing and Cuisine. The details of the promotion, which was widely popular with fans across the country last year, will be announced during the first week of June.
“The Breeders’ Cup is a historic event for Del Mar and all of Southern California,” said Darrell Pilant, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Harrah’s Resort Southern California. “We’re creating a fun, interactive experience that adds to the allure of this exciting event and provides a glimpse into what Harrah’s Resort Southern California is all about.”
“We are very pleased that Harrah’s Resort Southern California has joined us as a marketing partner for this year’s Breeders’ Cup,” said Craig Fravel, Breeders’ Cup President and CEO. “The combination of fan engagement at Del Mar with Harrah’s onsite experience, coupled with their presenting sponsorship of the “Racing with the Stars” contest is a perfect fit for this year’s Championships.”
