Breeders’ Cup’s Cocktails & Conversation Welcomes Boat Racing, Co-Owners Of Hot Rod Charlie, To This Week’s Show
WHAT: “Cocktails & Conversation,” the weekly virtual happy hour series, returns for the seventh episode of the season on Thursday, May 27, with Boat Racing, a group of five friends who are co-owners of TVG Breeders’ Cup Juvenile runner-up and G2 winner Hot Rod Charlie; hosted by Britney Eurton and Nick Luck of NBC Sports and joined by renowned mixologist and creator of Breeders’ Cup’s official cocktails Mark Tubridy.
This week’s cocktail features the flavors of summer with a bourbon twist. The Bourbon Blinker is a whiskey-based drink made with Maker’s Mark®, grapefruit juice and raspberry syrup. We will only feature one cocktail to accommodate the large group of guests on this week’s show.
In addition to the cocktail mixing segment, fans will be able to submit questions via social media for the hosts and McCarthy to answer during the live stream. Throughout the cocktail hour, viewers will be encouraged to donate to industry workers and communities in need through the official Breeders' Cup website.
All donations generated from Cocktails & Conversation are wholly donated to organizations benefitting the horse racing and hospitality industries, including the Race Track Chaplaincy of America, USBG National Charity Foundation and Restaurant Workers Relief Program.
WHO: Boat Racing members Patrick O’Neill, Alex Quoyeser, Daniel Giovacchini, Eric Armagost and Reiley Higgins met in college when playing football for Brown University. The five Theta Delta Chi fraternity brothers built on the brotherhood formed during their college days by establishing Boat Racing, a Thoroughbred ownership group that struck gold when they invested as partners in their third horse, graded stakes-winner Hot Rod Charlie or “Chuck” as the Boat Racing crew calls him.
Following “Chuck’s” exciting runner-up finish at 94-1 in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1), Boat Racing has been on the ride of a lifetime with a win in the Louisiana Derby (G2), a third-place finish in the Kentucky Derby (G1) and a trip to next week’s Belmont Stakes (G1).
Boat Racing has pledged to support the Melanoma Research Alliance with 1/6 of Hot Rod Charlie’s earnings going to the foundation. The ownership group also promotes the Jake Panus Walk-On Football Endowed Scholarship. Both causes will be supported throughout Chuck’s career.
WHEN: Thursday, May 27 at 6 p.m. ET
