Breeders’ Cup’s Cocktails & Conversation Welcomes Royal Ascot-Bound Trainer Wesley Ward To Thursday’s Show
WHAT: “Cocktails & Conversation,” the weekly virtual happy hour series, returns for the eighth episode of the season on Thursday, June 10, with 11-time Royal Ascot winning trainer Wesley Ward; hosted by Britney Eurton and Nick Luck of NBC Sports and joined by renowned mixologist and creator of Breeders’ Cup’s official cocktails Mark Tubridy.
This week’s cocktails feature the refreshing flavors of the summer. The Paloma is a tequila-based drink made with Blanco tequila, grapefruit juice, lime juice, agave nectar, and club soda. The second shares the same name as the famous racehorse Man o’ War and is made with Maker’s Mark®, Cointreau, Sweet Vermouth, and lemon juice.
In addition to the cocktail mixing segment, fans will be able to submit questions via social media for the hosts and trainer Wesley Ward to answer during the live stream. Throughout the cocktail hour, viewers will be encouraged to donate to industry workers and communities in need through the official Breeders' Cup website.
All donations generated from Cocktails & Conversation are wholly donated to organizations benefitting the horse racing and hospitality industries, including the Race Track Chaplaincy of America, USBG National Charity Foundation, and Restaurant Workers Relief Program.
WHO: Trainer Wesley Ward is no stranger to the Royal Ascot, as he prepares to send nine runners to the series of extravagant races next week. Ward was the first American-based trainer to saddle a Royal Ascot winner. He currently has earned over 2,000 wins globally, including 11 Royal Ascot and four Breeders’ Cup victories. Prior to his career as a trainer, Ward was an Eclipse Award winning apprentice jockey who retired in 1989 and launched his training career in 1991.
Ward will join the show to discuss some of his past Breeders’ Cup and Royal Ascot champions, as well as which horses to look out for in the Royal Ascot and beyond.
WHEN: Thursday, June 10, at 6 p.m. ET
