Cocktails & Conversation Welcomes Breeders' Cup Winning Trainer Bret Calhoun To Wednesday’s Show
WHAT: “Cocktails & Conversation,” the weekly virtual happy hour series, returns Wednesday at 5 p.m. ET/2 p.m. PT. The 16th episode of the season will feature G1-winning trainer Bret Calhoun; hosted by Britney Eurton and Nick Luck of NBC Sports and joined by renowned mixologist and creator of Breeders’ Cup’s official cocktails Mark Tubridy.
This week’s cocktail is the Jungle Bird — a rum-based cocktail with a tropical flare, including aged rum, Campari, pineapple juice, lime juice, and Demerara syrup.
In addition to the cocktail mixing segment, fans will be able to submit questions here for the hosts and Calhoun to answer during the live stream. Throughout the cocktail hour viewers will be encouraged to donate to industry workers and communities in need through the official Breeders' Cup website.
All donations generated from Cocktails & Conversation are wholly donated to organizations benefitting the horse racing and hospitality industries, including the Race Track Chaplaincy of America, USBG National Charity Foundation, and Restaurant Workers Relief Program.
WHO: Bret Calhoun is no stranger to the horse racing business, as his father William “Buddy” Calhoun owned and trained Thoroughbreds prior to Bret taking out his trainer’s license in 1993. Since then, Bret has won nearly $93 Million in earnings and over 3,300 races, including two Breeders’ Cup titles. Some of Bret’s career highlights include his victories with Chamberlain Bridge in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G1), Dubai Majesty in the Sentient Jet Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint (G1), By My Standards in the Twinspires.com Louisiana Derby (G2), and Finley’sluckycharm in the Madison Stakes (G1).
