The $75,000 California Oaks will take place on Sunday, May 31 at Golden Gate Fields, with a field of seven drawn for the 1 1/16 mile race.
Mind Out, who broke her maiden impressively at Del Mar last August and was stakes placed on the grass in October will ship in from Santa Anita. The daughter of Tapit runs for trainer Simon Callaghan and owners Gainesway Stable, LNJ Foxwoods, and Andrew Rosen. The white-faced chestnut was second in her return to the races on March 22, missing to the favorite after rallying from ninth in a ten-horse field. An $850,000 yearling purchase, Mind Out has never been worse than third in her three starts.
The Bob Baffert-trained Éclair is based out of Southern California, but actually shipped up to Golden Gate to take the Golden Gate Debutante in November. The daughter of Bernardini has not run since then, but had two six-furlong workouts earlier this month. Drayden Van Dyke will fly up to ride the filly, who has two wins in six tries.
Dynasty of Her Own was a stakes winner at Sunland Park in January, and has since added an allowance race over the course. The daughter of Shanghai Bobby is three for four lifetime and is trained by Jonathan Wong, who won his first Grade 1 last week with Keeper ofthe Stars. Dynasty of Her Own has not run since March 29.
Mollie O’ McEvoy rounds out the top contenders. The California-bred is by Clubhouse Ride and out of a winning Game Plan mare. She won her first two starts over the track, then ran third in a pair of allowance tries before winning one March 8. William Delia trains the three-year-old, who worked a half-mile over the all weather surface on May 21.
California-bred Reiwa, two-time winner Paige Anne, and Fashion Royalty round out the field. Watch and wager on all racing in California, including Santa Anita and Los Alamitos, with TVG.
