Admiral Lynch makes his 2020 debut in the $100,000 World of Trouble Sprint Stakes (G3) at Gulfstream Park on Saturday, February 22. The six-furlong contest drew a field of eight.
Admiral Lynch was last seen winning a sprint over the distance at Penn National in November when he was under the conditioning of Timothy Kreiser. He has been transferred to the barn of Jason Servis, and will look to expand on recent success. Admiral Lynch has not been worse than third in his last five starts, and has been top three in 10 of 13 starts lifetime. Irad Ortiz, Jr. will ride the son of Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver.
Lasting Legacy faced much better in his last, where he missed by a length behind Diamond Oops in the Mr. Prospector (G3) here over seven furlongs. He defeated the likes of Imperial hint and X Y Jet that day, which was his first loss after three straight wins. The son of Tapizar is Admiral Lynch’s stablemate; Servis also trains. Paco Lopez will ride.
Epic Dreamer was a winner over the trip two back on December 8. Kelly Breen trains the son of Orb, a three-time winner in ten starts. He was 12th over a mile in Grade 3 company last out, but cuts back to a distance where he has been first and second in two starts. Jose Ortiz will ride.
Jackson was third in the Sunshine Millions Sprint over the trip January 18. He won in stakes company at Tampa Bay Downs in December; that was his first victory since May. He has been top three in five of seven starts here but with only one win.
Fast Pass also won over the trip last out, but that was New Year’s Day and he hasn’t won since Peter Walder trains the seven-year-old gelding by Successful Appeal, who has raced over this strip 11 times. He has been top three 10 times, with four wins. He was second by a nose in the Claiming Crown Express two back.
Yorkton will make his 2020 debut in the race. He was a Grade 3 winner at Woodbine on the synthetic main track three back; that was in September. He closed out the year finishing fourth in an allowance there for Stuart Simon on November 2 and hasn’t run since, but Yorkton is a consistent runner with stakes wins at three, four, and five. The son of Speightstown is now six.
Sweetontheladies and Goldenlion round out the field. Wager on all of Saturday’s races from Gulfstream Park live on TVG, including the $75,000 Any Limit Stakes for sophomore filly sprinters.
