The 2014 Breeders’ Cup World Championship is set to take place in Arcadia, California on Friday, October 31 and Saturday, November 1 at Santa Anita Park. The two-day event has much to offer in addition to world-class horse racing. The Breeders’ Cup will conduct a well-orchestrated celebration to keep you looking flawless and fashionable from post time to after party!
General Admission tickets for Friday, October 31 are available now online for $10 per person ($15 at the gate) and will enable you to experience the Longines Prize of Elegance event, the Beauty Bar by LA Magazine, the Breeders’ Cup Super Store, the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance Photo Booth, and 10 thoroughbred horse races including the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf, Dirt Mile, Fillies Turf, and Distaff. General Admission tickets for Saturday, November 1 include access to the events listed above for $25 a person ($40 at the gate) as well as nine Breeders’ Cup races including the highly anticipated Breeders’ Cup Classic.
With all of the action happening on both days of the 2014 Breeders’ Cup, we recommend you purchase your General Admission, Grandstand Seat, or VIP Package online with a game plan in mind to experience everything the Breeders’ Cup has to offer in addition to thoroughbred racing.
When you first arrive, try visiting the Beauty Bar by LA Magazine located next to the paddock for your passport to beauty. The free passport allows you to visit six stations to keep your look fresh for a full day of racing. Fashion experts in the beauty bar can help you complete your look with hats and fascinators, hair design, makeup touch-ups, and shoe shines!
Next up, enter the Longines Prize of Elegance event presented by Longines and Los Angeles Magazine. Dress to impress at this fashion event! LA Style Editor Linda Immediato will lead a panel of judges in awarding prizes based on headwear creativity, presentation, attitude and overall appearance. The best dressed men and women will win Longines watches on both Friday, October 31, and Saturday, November 1. This dashing event is open to all Breeders’ Cup attendees and guests. To be in the running, sign up at the booth located adjacent to the paddock below Sirona's.
As long as you’re camera ready, visit the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance booth for your chance to “ride” California Chrome or Shared Belief. A small donation to the TAA will give you a souvenir photo of you riding your horse that can also be instantly uploaded to the social media of your choice. Wearing a dress? No problem, you can always try riding California Chrome sidesaddle!
And because you’re already near the paddock, visit the Breeders’ Cup Super Store for everything you need to remember the 31st running of the Breeders’ Cup. From Breeders’ Cup embroidered coats to ball caps, the Breeders’ Cup store has what you need! If you’re not happy about carrying a bag around all day, visit the official Breeders' Cup Store online and purchase your keepsakes now. A second Breeders’ Cup Store will be located in the infield as well.
Finally, while you’re looking fabulous in the paddock area, stop by the incredible statue of Zenyatta. If you visit Santa Anita Park a photo with Zenyatta is a must! A Breeders’ Cup trophy will also be on display for photographs. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the beautiful vintage cigarette girls who will hand out samples and goodies from the Westfield Mall.
The infield at Santa Anita Park is also a great way to enjoy your Breeders’ Cup adventure. Breeders’ Cup and the city of Arcadia present “Halloween Fright-Day” from 12:00-5:00 on Friday, October 31 in the infield. Over 20 local businesses will hand out treats and candy for the little ones to celebrate Halloween. From pony rides to shaved ice, the little ghosts and goblins will have a great time while the adults enjoy champion thoroughbred racing. Children under 14 and Arcadia residents are free with a valid ID. If you’re an out-of-towner, admission is only $5.00. Simply enter Santa Anita Park through Gate 6 on Colorado Place to purchase your infield ticket.
Saturday’s infield festivities include a concert by swing revival band Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. A beer garden will be available to enjoy as well as 25 food trucks famous to Southern California. Tickets for the infield on Saturday, November 1 are only $10 a person and must be purchased that day. If you decide to journey over to the main building after enjoying the infield, crossover tickets will be available for purchase.
With so many activities to choose from, your Breeders’ Cup experience will surely be an exciting one!
