Charity for Champions FAQ
Q. Is this a one-time bottle or part of a series?
A. The Bassett bottle is the third and last bottle in a three-bottle series which started in 2018 ending in 2020. Previously, a five-bottle series was released from 2015-2017 which included bottles commemorating Breeders' Cup Champions AP Indy, Lure, Personal Ensign, Zenyatta and Cigar.
Q. How was Bassett selected and who/what will be featured on the future Maker’s Mark bottles?
A. The three limited-edition Maker’s Mark bottles represent some of the most iconic contributors to Breeders’ Cup from the event’s history. As a former President of Keeneland and Breeders’ Cup limited, Mr. Bassett was a natural fit for 2020. He has long been regarded as Thoroughbred Racing’s Gentleman Ambassador and received exemplary honors from international racing organizations and institutions, most notably the Eclipse Award of Merit and, in 2019, was inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame. The 2019 bottle featured Mike Smith, the all-time winningest Jockey in Breeders’ Cup History and the 2018 bottle featured Breeders’ Cup all time leading trainer, D. Wayne Lukas.
