Drosselmeyer passed pace-setting Game On Dude in deep stretch to win the 2011 Breeders’ Cup Classic at Churchill Downs by 1 1/2 lengths, in the process defeating eventual 2011 Horse of the Year Havre de Grace. Drosselmeyer’s victory gave Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith his 15th Breeders’ Cup win and represented the eighth Championships triumph for Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott. Drosselmeyer was perfect in two career starts at Churchill Downs, having won his first race there on Nov. 18, 2009 in his fourth lifetime start. As a 3-year-old in 2010, Drosselmeyer won the Belmont Stakes for his first of two Grade 1 victories. In his career, Drosselmeyer won races at three tracks.
