George Vancouver continued a pattern of European success in the 2012 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf. The two year-old Kentucky-bred son of Henrythenavigator was winless in his last three starts against the top Juveniles in France, Ireland and England before coming to California. Still, trainer Aidan O'Brien and jockey Ryan Moore had great success with longshot Wrote to win the 2011 Juvenile Turf at Churchill Downs, and they would have their day again at Santa Anita. Sent away at better than 9-1 in a 14-horse field, George Vancouver saved ground early behind the pacesetters, but emerged through a tight pack of horses with a powerful move just off the rail and expanded his lead to the wire by 1 1/2 lengths to a rousing victory for owners Michael Tabor, Susan Magnier and Derrick Smith.
