In every way, Tiznow towers above the rest. Noticeably larger than most Thoroughbreds, he flaunted his courage and talent in a stretch-long battle against European superstar Giant’s Causeway to win the 2000 Breeders’ Cup Classic at Churchill Downs and wrapped up the coveted Horse of the Year title. For good measure, he duplicated that victory with a virtual replay over European invader Sakhee in the 2001 Breeders’ Cup Classic at Belmont Park in his final career start. Those epic triumphs earned him induction into the Racing Hall of Fame in 2009. Even in retirement, Tiznow stands above the crowd as a leading sire of quality racehorses including 2005 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies winner Folklore. Statistically, Tiznow’s racetrack earnings of $6.4 million rank him among the best of all-time.
